Just for the adventure alone, this book was an absolute page-turner. Lilia's story, on the other hand, is very much plot-driven - it is an adventure story which at times was reminiscent of Tolkien's world. Even so, the dynamics between the characters were much weaker than in The Thirteenth Princess where I felt the story was all about the relationships and interactions of the characters.
